Shuler Epoxy Construction
At Shuler Boards, matching a board's construction to the surfer and intended surf conditions is just as important as the board's shape and size. Finding conventional polyurethane foam and polyester resin excessively toxic to work with, sluggish in performance and with poor strength to weight ratio, Shuler Surfboards has utilized innovative materials and techniques for over twenty years. Throughout those years we pursued and developed new criteria for materials and construction techniques including:
1) Greater suitability for building uniquely specialized custom surfboards.
2) Superior surfing performance over that of conventional polyester resin and polyurethane foam
3) Diminished toxic impact to the general environment as well as lessened health risk to our glassers.
4) Improved ding resistance combined with "do it yourself" simplicity of repair.
Currently we are using various epoxy resins and polystyrene foams that are, in these four concerns, substantially superior to conventional polyester resin and polyurethane foam.
